Acai Berry Side Effects

Acai Berry Side Effects

The acai berry grows naturally in the Amazon rain forest, for centuries this natural berry has been used by the local tribes for its healing properties.  Many have been curious of the acai berry side effects.

The berry has been found not to produce any side effects.  The acai berry is dense with nutrients that have antioxidants proven to prevent:  cardiovascular disease, cancer and Alzheimer’s.  Also the oils that are contained in the fruit help the skin cells fight wrinkles and rejuvenate the skin.  Individuals have found that when they consume the berries they feel and look younger.

Pollen/Berry Allergies

We do recommend not using acai berry or similar berries if you suffer from hypersensitivity or have pollen allergies.  We do stress that you avoid acai berry products.  Before trying these berries we recommend that you consult with your doctor or nutritionist.  The cases that have been reported have been minor, acai berries may aggravate your symptoms and these are my recommendations to be cautious.

Acai Berry Supplements

There has been no known drug interactions, those who are taking medications for high blood pressure or are known to be pregnant, can safely take without the worry about any negative interactions when using 100% pure acai berry supplements.

You can safely take 1,000 to 4000mg of acai berry supplements a day as recommended by most manufactures.  The amount of consumption of these supplements should be judged on the potency before consuming the super-fruit.

Acai Berry Juices/Purees

Traditionally the acai berries are mashed to produce acai berry purees.  There are no major side effects connected to acai berry purees.

With juices it is common that manufactures mix acai berries with a mixture of other fruit juices there may be some minor side effects as a result of this combination.

There is a possibility if you consume too much of the acai berry juice you may experience mild diarrhoea; just as a reminder this would be the case if you consumed too much of other fruit juices.  If you are concerned about these side effects we recommend that you take no more than 4 ounces of acai berry puree or 12-16 ounces of acai berry juices.

Mixed Ingredient Acai Berry Products

When consuming pure unaltered acai berry it is free from side effects, it’s when the acai berry products are mixed with other products that there is a possibility of side effects.

Some companies try to enhance the acai berries natural qualities and in doing so they try to save money, many of these products contain additional ingredients, including guarana (natural caffeine substitute), inert fillers, sugars and fruit juices.

With this minimization of the acai berry fruit, the potency of these products is greatly reduced, and they have not been tested to see their long term effects.

It is our suggestion that you avoid trying this product.  If you have any pre-existing health problems it is recommended to wait until these products have been tested.

Which are the safest?

It is my recommendation that you stick to a 100% pure acai berry product.
